Mormon Trail Center
This building serves as an interpretive center at the site of Historic Winter Quarters and the Pioneer Cemetery. Dan Reinhardt served as Project Architect for the project while employed at Astle/Ericson & Associates.
Built for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the building contains ofices for a Director and other Workrooms for the missionary staff. A large Foyer area leads to the museum exhibit area, where tours are given discussing the experiences and hardships of the early Mormon Pioneers. The 10,000 square foot exhibit area is the main feature of the building. Complex lighting and audio/visual components are integrated to provide a unique interactive experience while touring through the exhibits.
Additional projects completed since the opening of this facility have included the finishing of the lower level with restrooms and theater area, and the installation of an elevator and lower level lobby.
